America’s Night Out Against Crime: National Night Out August 4, 2009 The Eugene Police Department has organized a National Night Out Caravan!

Eugene Police staff, in partnership with Lane county Transit District, Southeast Neighborhood Association, and City Officials and are bringing crime prevention to you.

When: August 4, 2009, at 8:30 p.m.

Where: Tugman Park

What: An opportunity to learn about current crime prevention programs, neighborhood safety tips, speak with Eugene Police Staff, City Officials and Meet McGruff the Crime Dog

For those not familiar with National Night Out, it is designed to: • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness • Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are or- ganized and fighting back!!

This year Eugene will be celebrating with over 10,000 communities and 35 million people across the nation for National Night Out (NNO). The true idea behind NNO is to keep people in their neighborhoods and en- courage them to have neighborhood level events. Getting neighbors to work together
