[edit] About the Cal Young Neighborhood Association

Cal Young Neighborhood Association (CYNA) was chartered and recognized by the City of Eugene in September 1978. It is one of 19 neighborhood associations formally recognized by the City, and has a three-pronged purpose statement:

  • CYNA is advisory to the City Council, Planning Commission, and other City boards, commissions and officials on matters affecting the growth and development of the neighborhood. The Association may develop proposals with respect to land use, zoning, parks, open space and recreation, annexation, housing, community facilities, transportation and traffic, public safety, sanitation, and other activities and public services which affect the neighborhood.
  • CYNA addresses all matters affecting the neighborhood (in accordance with City of Eugene policy), including problems of public safety and economic development.
  • CYNA serves to inform the citizens of the neighborhood, and encourage and facilitate communication among citizens on matters of common concern.


[edit] CYNA Events & Meetings

General CYNA meetings are held quarterly, generally the fourth Thursday of January, April, July (annual neighborhood picnic) and October. The January meeting is the CYNA annual meeting at which CYNA officers are elected. The CYNA Executive Committee has regularly scheduled quarterly meetings, generally the first Tuesday of March, June, September and December. Special Executive Committee meetings are scheduled as provided by the CYNA charter.
