DID YOU KNOW? Pesticides used in urban areas comprise about 20% of all pesticide use. According to the EPA, home users of pesticides spend over 2 billion dollars on pesticide products in one year!

HEALTHY GARDENS = HEALTHY YOU! Overwhelming scientific evidence links pesticides and lawn care products with human health risks ranging from lower testosterone levels, hormone disruption, thyroid problems, to prostate cancer and reproductive abnormalities.

OUR LOCAL STREAMS SUFFER. One of the problems with the widespread use of toxic pesticides is that they often run‐off into nearby surface and storm water. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration found that salmon died when exposed to combinations of pesticides that were not deadly when tested in small amounts. Their conclusion is that even very low levels of pesticides can constitute a harmful exposure.

TAKE‐AWAY POINT. Environmental and health threats can occur when pesticides are improperly used, stored or disposed. Please take this opportunity to properly dispose of your pesticides!

Join your Amazon and Southeast neighbors to reduce pesticides in our local waterways, particularly Amazon Creek and the Long Tom Watershed. Take your unwanted pesticides, herbicides and other unwanted hazardous products to Round‐Up on June 13! Then pledge to use alternatives to pesticides that are safer for human and environmental health.
