[edit] Conceptual Summary

composite of flows for motor vehicles, with mobility bottlenecks (acute congestion or low connectivity) including VMT areas and key trip generators

[edit] Map Styles Summary

  • area fill - VMT
  • linework with graduated widths - traffic flow
  • icons for hazard areas, signals, etc?

[edit] Conceptual Elements for the Map

This city map of traffic flow is close to what we want, but it is clipped on the west, and we'd like to see the flow represented as line width, rather than just as numbers.

This VMT map is something like a layer we can use for area fills, underrneath the traffic flow lines.

Should we show something about accident data?

Do we have a way to demark areas which fall below level of service thresholds?

Should we indicate signalized intersections (traffic signal map) somehow?

[edit] RLID Layer of Potential Relevance

RLID offers many layers in its transportation category:

[edit] Existing Roadway System

Layers that could be useful for presenting the existing roadway system:

  • Metro Roads Centerline file
Centerline of roads in the right of way in the Eugene-Springfield metro area. Includes name attribute on most segments.
  • Eugene Street Single Line
This data represents the City of Eugene's contribution to a county wide traveled centerline layer and depicts a single line representation of the traveled center of an existing and drivable roadway.
  • Eugene Unimproved Streets
This subset consists of segments of street in the Pavement Management System (PMS) that don't have curb and gutter on both sides of the street. Highway excluded.
  • Eugene Unimproved Alleys
The Pavement Management System (PMS) represents segments of alleys maintained and/or owned by the City of Eugene. Alleys in this coverage have no drainage provision.
  • Eugene Street Names
Layer contains 4 annotation subclasses of street names. Each subclass is used for display with some general and specific data
  • Eugene Street Names for ArcView
This is a street name ArcInfo annotation coverage designed to label Eugene public streets within the urban growth boundary, providing at least one occurance per each continuous platted street segment.

[edit] Other Right-of-Way

Layers that could indicate acquired but unused right-of-way:

[edit] Traffic Counts

Layers that could be useful for indicating current (or recent) flow of (motor) traffic:
